Recent studies show that 88% of employees and 94% of executives believe that a distinct company culture is an essential contributor to business success. Employees rated collaboration, work environment, mission, and value alignment are factors that keep them motivated. Thirteen companies that belong to Fortune’s 100 Best Companies to Work For have higher average annual returns, reaching up to 495%. Companies with active corporate cultures garnered a fourfold increase in their revenue growth.

These figures only show that harmonious and stable company culture is a competitive advantage. The presence of Interpersonal Skills in members of an organization significantly contributes to positive and healthy company culture.

These are characteristics of an employee that enables them to communicate and relate with colleagues effectively. Also known as soft skills, these qualities are essential in dealing with others and fostering a harmonious and collaborative work environment.

Companies must provide opportunities for Interpersonal Skills Development to their employees to create the following positive effects on corporate culture.

Allow Employees to Discuss Problems

Every day there will be a problem or two (or maybe a dozen more) that will crop up in the workplace. If there is no spirit of useful communication present, employees will sweep issues under the rug. If these issues go unaddressed, they will progress into uncontrollable crises.

Interpersonal skills allow people to openly discuss problems to weigh several alternative solutions before arriving at the best and most beneficial ones. Team members will be able to maximize the time spent on brainstorming sessions when they feel respected.

Interpersonal skills boost an employee’s confidence. When they are confident about their capabilities, they can approach colleagues and superiors with solutions and useful recommendations professionally and respectfully.

Promote Excellent Mentorship Environment

Interpersonal skills are a vital part of the coaching process. If employees enjoy a balanced and professional relationship with their colleagues and their manager, they will be able to recognize each other’s achievements and excellent work. Interpersonal skills will foster a culture that can praise and gently correct if needed.

A simple and nice pat on the back, or a “Congratulations,” may seem to be simple gestures, which can go a long way in motivating and encouraging one another. In the long run, colleagues will become valuable mentors.

Foster a Culture of Synergy and Positivity

When interpersonal skills are executed well, the organizational culture will thrive. The company will have a positive and synergistic environment that boosts morale, increases productivity, and develops leadership skills.

Lack of interpersonal skills, on the other hand, fills the air with confusion, negativity, and conflict. It ultimately ruins the corporate atmosphere and reduces staff productivity. The negative vibe will adversely affect every level of the corporation and might be passed on to clients and customers.

If this situation continues, revenue will suffer, and it will be a challenge to bring in new or repeat business.

To develop the Interpersonal Skills of the company workforce, consistent and immediate correspondence is crucial. Managers and supervisors must make workers feel that their staff can approach them with any work problem or difficulty. By harnessing a positive attitude and an encouraging spirit, the organization is well on its way to success.
