Home Bedford

Bedford is a lovely town to stay for a night or two. Whether you are just passing by on your way somewhere else or stopping here for a weekend away, there is plenty to do! Read my dedicated Bedford category for all the best hotspots.

If you’re looking for a nice hotel in Bedford, look no further. I have put together a list of my favourite hotels in this historic market town.

Booking.com

The Embankment

You can probably guess that this hotel is located on the Embankment, with beautiful views over the river Ouse. I always recommend this hotel first when family or friends are coming to stay. The Embankment itself is a gastropub, with locally brewed beers and delicious food. It’s the kind of place to spend your morning with a coffee, fresh breakfast and a bit of the paper!

The rooms are boutique style, with high quality linen provided as well as a tv and toiletries. All the basics you would expect in a hotel room with a beautiful decor! You can even bring your dog in some of the hotelrooms and (well-behaved) dogs are allowed in the bar/terrace too.

The Swan

The Swan is more on the luxury spectrum of hotels in Bedford. The hotel itself is super stylish and there is even a suite available if you want to treat yourself. Located by the river as well as right next to the town centre, you couldn’t get a better spot for this luxurious hotel.

The Swan restaurant is open from breakfast through to dinner (or evening drinks) and should you decide to dine here, you are in for a treat. The terrace (Pen & Cob) is a great place to enjoy a cold drink on a sunny day.

Albero Rooms

The Albero Lounge is a cosy restaurant and bar right next to the river. Upstairs you will find 5 bedrooms, all with a king size bed and fascinating decor (I love the jungle room!). 4 of the rooms have a freestanding bath, ideal for relaxing after spending the day exploring Bedford.

In the restaurant downstairs you will find a menu filled with crowd pleasers: burgers, tapas and lots more. A tasty breakfast is served in the morning and the terrace overlooks the river.

Mercure Bedford centre

If you’re looking for something simple where you can have a warm shower and comfy bed, the Mercure is the perfect option. Rooms are what you’d expect from a hotel like Mercure: premium linen, a clean room and sleek design. The hotel features a bar and restaurant as well as a fitness centre.

The hotel is located in the town centre and overlooks the river, from the other side as the town. A quick crossing of the bridge will bring you directly onto the market square.

d’Parys

d’Parys is a quirky boutique hotel with 14 lovely rooms. The building is restored with its’ orgininal features kept in tact, which gives the hotel a lot of character. The hotel is located next to Bedford Park and about a 5 minute walk from the town centre.

Downstairs you will find a beautiful pub and restaurant, serving a tasty breakfast as well as a full dining menu. On a colder day you can enjoy a drink by the fireplace and get cosy. Or find a seat in the big terrace if the sun is out.

I’d love to stay in all of these hotels! Let me know if you’ve stayed in any of the above hotels and which one was your favourite.
