Date ideas can be a challenge at the best of times but rules around social distancing add a further complication! I’ve taken a look at a few ideas to help make your social distancing dating a bit more fun. Whether you are going on a first date or spending time with a long-term partner, I hope there are some ideas in here that work for you!

Cooking is love made visible

There are plenty of sayings about the connection between food and love. The most classic date night activity is probably the meal out followed by a drink or two. Eating out in restaurants isn’t the default it has previously been during these Covid-19 times but that doesn’t mean that food can’t be central to your date.

The first idea is a simple one: cook together from your own kitchens. Surprise your date with a delivery that includes a recipe for the meal you’ve chosen, the ingredients and a drink to go with it. Is there a meal that means something to you both? Maybe a take on your favourite restaurants’ menu? A dish you ate on a special holiday together that brings back good memories?

Setup FaceTime, Zoom, Skype or any other video call in your kitchen so you can cook together, laugh and share the meal from the safety of your own home. This is a simple idea but will fill your evening will laughter and love!

Culture, Darling

Show your date just how intelligent and cultured you are by doing a virtual museum tour with your date. Museums have released some incredible online experiences in a short amount of time to allow people to “visit” during these times.

The Guardian newspaper have put together a comprehensive list of museums and art galleries that you can visit without leaving your house. Some highlights include The Guggenheim in Bilbao, The National History Museum in London and The Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.

Choose a museum or gallery that you want to visit but haven’t been able to. Sit back, load the tour and take each other on a walk around!

Home is where the heart is

You don’t need to venture far to have a good date! Exploring your own town or city is an easy, fun and sensible date idea. Each person on the date can suggest a couple of places or things to do outside locally. Keep the selections a surprise and your adventure awaits. How well do you really know each other?

If you’re looking for a date then you can find plenty of eligible singles online! Searching your town or city name such as Cardiff dating site is a great way to find people locally. An outside date is a safe way to get to know each other and makes it easy to keep distance as appropriate!

However the date ends up, this idea means that you will know more about your hometown than you did before! Head over to a Cardiff dating site and let the exploring commence.

Don’t let Covid put love on hold! There are plenty of ways to get to know people whilst staying safe and abiding by the rules set out by the government. Stay safe and let love do it’s thing!
