Types of accommodation

The National Trust have different kinds of accommodations available:

With a holiday at National Trust there is so much to choose from. Whether you want to stay in a lighthouse, a mansion or a modern house – there are endless options. Some properties are so remote, you won’t have to see or speak to anyone for the entirety of your holiday (aside from the wildlife of course)! They even have a selection of places with connections to WWII and ones that have a literary connection.

There are also lots of unique and quirky cottages to choose from, including light houses, castles and towers. Some have even starred in tv-shows and films!
My recommendation is Nant Las in Dolgellau (Snowdonia, Wales). If you like hiking followed by a warm bath and glass of wine by the log fire – this is the one.

Destinations

National Trust have special places for your next holiday all over the country! You will never have to drive far to find a National Trust holiday destination. Here is a list of where you can find accommodations:

National Trust are constantly adding new additions to their long list of places to stay. Have a look at recently added new accomodations.

Accessibility

National Trust want everyone to be able to access their places and facilities as easily as possible. They continuously work on improving their facilities in parks and destinations. For accessibility information on their holiday destinations, they have a 224-page guide which you can read here.

For deaf or hard of hearing visitors they can provide a fire alarm which triggers a vibration on capturing the sound of the main alarm. Please inform the National Trust or relevant accommodation in advance if there are any members of your group who are disabled or require this facility. Also let them know if you are bringing a guide dog with you.

Dog friendly

I am always happy when I see accommodations are dog friendly! National Trust have over 160 dog friendly holiday cottages, so it is no problem for your four legged friend to come with you. Dogs need a holiday too! And with so many cottages in rural areas with lots of surrounding nature, these are great places for dogs to have a roam around. Added bonus, over 100 cottages will take multiple dogs: ideal if your dog has friends.

Many campsites, bothies and bunkhouses on National Trust are dog friendly too.

Working holiday

I love the idea of going on a working holiday! I’ve done this before and although it might seem odd or scary, it is actually a great way to travel. With National Trust, you can stay in some fantastic places in the UK and give something back to the local community. Whether you are helping out with the animals (this is my dream!), construction, gardening or something completely different, a working holiday will leave a lasting impression! You get to meet great people along the way too.
