This post is part of my 12 Days of Christmas campaign where I share a Christmassy blog post every day for 12 days! It involves giveaways, competitions and more – so keep your eyes peeled!
If you’re a fan of the Harry Potter books and films, you will know that a lot of it takes place in and around London. It comes to no surprise that there are lots of attractions around the UK capital city around the famous wizard world.
Personally, I love Harry Potter and have been to multiple attractions (Harry Potter Warner Bros. Studios, Platform 9 3/4 etc.) Below are some suggestions of how you can enjoy London as a Potterhead.

Harry Potter Studio Tour
Located a bit outside of central London you can find the Harry Potter Studios. Transport there is so easy though, there are plenty of buses/coaches as well as trains (to Watford Junction). See the real sets used for the films, the costumes, the props and lots more. The entire experience is quite magical!
Lots of new sections are added all the time, like Gringotts Bank, Lestrange Vault and the Forbiddon Forest. Of course they also have The Great Hall, Diagon Alley and the Hogwarts Express on show.
Tickets are not cheap though! A family ticket starts at £140. It it up to you to decide whether this is worth it, but I thought the whole experience was wonderful!

Platform 9 3/4 and Harry Potter Shop at King’s Cross Station
Probably the most famous platform in the world! Located in King’s Cross station you can find the famous trolley and gift shop. I lived in London for 6 years and visited King’s Cross Station very often, but the first time I went to look for Platform 9 3/4 I actually couldn’t find it!
So here’s how to get there: when you’re in the station, follow the signs to Platforms 9 to 11. Walk past the ticket office, to the right of the Disabled Meeting Point board and past the cash machines. You can see the platform 9 3/4 sign right under the footbridge. The gift shop is in the main concourse area by platform 9 and 10. You do not need a valid train ticket to get to the trolley and gift shop.
If you’d like to visit platform 9 3/4 it is worth remembering that it gets véry busy, so don’t plan on just walking past on your way to a scheduled train! You can walk up to the sign/trolley and take a picture for free any time the station is open, and the earlier in the morning you come the quiter it will be.
Professional photos can be taken from 9am to 9pm, with a house scarf. You can view and buy the photos from the gift shop. The charges are as follows:
One photograph | £9.50 |
Two photographs | £15 |
Three photographs | £20 |
