If you’ve come to this page it’s likely you want to know a bit more about me.
I think you’ve figured out from the map below that I am originally from the Netherlands, a tiny country in Northwestern Europe. On this map I’ve marked all the ‘important’ places to me. Let’s go through these chronologically. (You came here to find out more about me: I absolutely love making lists!)
• Joure: A tiny town in the north of the Netherlands. I was born here in 1994 and lived here for 16 years. My parents still live here so I go back very often! It’s a beautiful part of the country with lots of lakes, sailboats and ‘raw’ nature! Did you know we actually speak a different (official) language here? It’s called Frisian, most Dutch people wouldn’t understand it!
• Utrecht: this is my favourite place in the Netherlands! I studied Journalism here from age 16 onwards. I always recommend this city for those who want to visit ‘my’ country but are not too keen on Amsterdam.
• Groningen: the biggest city near where I grew up, so I spent a lot of time there. I also lived here for a year! My sister (the best person in the world) lives here now, so I visit regularly. A large student city with more bikes than people.
• Amsterdam: of course the capital city. My boyfriend and I spend a lot of time here when we visit, as it’s easy to travel from/to. Gorgeous place!
When I was 19 I decided to jump over the pond and move over to the UK. I lived in London for 5 years and in that time got a BA degree in English Literature (from Goldsmiths University). We recently relocated to the Cotswolds and now I spend most my time on this website creating/updating content, and walking our gorgeous rescue dog. Whatever time is left I use to plan my next trip! Currently I’m most invested in discovering more of Europe; you don’t always need to go far to see beautiful things. Dog friendly places are always a bonus!
