If you’re looking to spend a much warmer Christmas in the sun and sand, then Dubai is the place you should definitely consider for your next winter holiday. Here are a few options you can choose to do while you’re in the city during winter. We hope you enjoy our guide to Dubai!
1. Rent a penthouse by the beach
If your main incentive is going to the beach in winter, then make sure you try to do it Dubai-style. Rent a penthouse by the beach is so much more highly recommended than going to a traditional hotel which will be full of people as its tourist season. Some of the penthouses in Dubai are truly unique with equivalent facilities and private beach access. How’s that for kickstarting your trip?
2. Stay in a Swiss chalet inspired by the Alps, but escape to the warmth at your doorstep!
Want the best of both worlds? Consider staying at a ski chalet at the Kempinski near Mall of the Emirates. This chalet offers you stunning views of snow slopes (yes, you read that right, snow slopes!) over at Ski Dubai, Dubai’s year-round winter wonderland. Special facilities include 24×7 butler service, a crackling fireplace, separate kitchen, grand staircase, a powder room, and a bathroom that would make anyone jealous.
3. Visit the Christmas market sans the snow
Head over to Madinat Jumeirah in December and you will love the charming Christmas market. It has an amazing selection of classic Christmas food, from roasts to fondue, lovely music, a small section for children to play in, and of course, mulled wine. With Christmas music in the air, the Madinat Jumeirah area also hosts a massive Christmas tree. You’d expect Santa to come out in beach shorts at any given moment. Another really nice Christmas market would be at the Habtoor palace courtyard in Business Bay, complete with caroling and a Christmas concert. There’s also a Dubai Winter Festival that takes place right before Christmas complete with a Santa’s Grotto, cheese board making lessons and more!
If you want a more classical Christmas experience, head to Wafi mall, where there’s an almost legendary Santa’s Grotto and an epic Christmas tree. The Christmas rituals at Wafi happen every year since the 90’s.
4. Visit Global Village
Global Village is a massive multicultural festival park in Dubailand that attracts over 5 million visitors every year. Experience the vibrant mixed culture that Dubai has to offer in the form of its pavillions. Indulge in Turkish kunefe, try Bosnian kebabs, shop wooden trinkets from Africa and more. Take the opportunity to watch the various cultural performances on stage.
5. Experience a Dubai brunch alfresco
There’s nothing like spending a winter brunch in a deliciously pleasant climate. Considered Dubai’s favorite rites of passage into the city, visiting a weekend brunch is a must-do on your winter trip to Dubai. The Dusty’s Departures brunch in the DIFC area is high on this list, as you will love the amazing selection of unlimited food on their a la carte menu. You can also choose to do a lovely Urban Picnic brunch by the pool in Vida, Downtown Dubai. There’s no limit to alfresco brunch choices in Dubai during winter, picking one will seem really hard!
